Innovative Pet Memorials
23 Jul 2010
Some people think about their pets as part of their family and some see their pets as their very own children. The loss of a pet is as hurtful as the loss of a loved one. And just as we have memorials and grave markers to memorialize our loved ones who have died, the loss of a pet often creates the same desire in us to remember them in some way – to create pet memorials, to point out to us of the joy that pet's life brought to ours.
For some, it might seem a little odd for somebody to go to much trouble to memorialize their pet. Sadly, those who never experienced having a pet will never comprehend how a pet affects one's life. A pet can keep us company when we are alone and they can cheer us up when we are down. Occasionally the simple fact that another creature loves us unconditionally can make all the difference in the world. Pets make a difference in our existence and this is the reason why we hold them close to our heart. Consequently, when we lose a pet we find it compelling to find a way to hold a memorial service for our pet. It makes a statement that says, "The life of this pet is significant to me. Having this pet made a difference.”
We must understand that our pets are not the one's benefiting from the pet memorials but us which is more or less the same when we hold a memorial service for our loved ones who passed away. Recounting and remembering is part of the grieving system along with the fact that we already need to bid farewell to them. The grieving system can be differ from one person to another this is the reason why no two funerals and memorial services are the same and this is also applicable for pet memorials. The crucial thing is that we do something significant.
Pet memorials do not have to be lavish this can take place in the backyard or it can take place while you sprinkle your pet's ashes in his favorite spot. In addition to that, pet cemeteries are great places for pet owners to bury their pets and erect a grave stone to mark the burial site. Often pet memorials can be a form of art, like a shadowbox containing sentimental items like fur clippings or the pet's favorite toys, a pet portrait, or even a plush replica. One designer helps owners memorialize their pets by creating special tribute paintings for the pet, including the cremated remains into the fine art. A pet memorial, no matter what type it is, is about what allows us pet owners remember and treasure our pets memory and to accept the fact that one way or another our pets touched our existence.
There are a lot of ways to creatively bid goodbye to our dear pets. There is not a right or wrong way to remember, so choose the creative pet memorials that work best for you.
